“My name is Adam Sendroff and I am running for Mayor because I am concerned about the future of our town and I feel compelled to make a difference.”

In the 6 generations Adam’s family has lived in Hamden, they have received much from the town - quality education, extensive opportunities, employment, safety, and a sense of community. The values that Hamden instilled in Adam helped shape him and he always tries to give back in return.

Adam.

He attended Shepherd Glen, Hamden Middle School, and Hamden High. He played Hamden Fathers’ Baseball. As a kid, he delivered the New Haven Register, and various town departments in the Town Hall were on his paper route — introducing him to local government at a young age. As a teenager, he worked at Sparaco’s Market and at Brooksvale Park.

Adam has 20 years of Hamden public service experience, as an elected official, as a Town department head, and as a volunteer. Additionally, he worked in management for over 2 decades in the corporate world for a publicly-traded company.

Adam started out by getting involved in the Ridge Hill PTA,  which led to running for a seat on the Board of Education. He served on the Board of Education  for over 10 years, winning 3 town-wide elections, and served as Chairperson. His time on the Board of Education was marked by stability, fiscal responsibility, innovation, and student success.

Later, he became the Town Department Head in charge of the Keefe Community Center where he was responsible for the three town departments at Keefe and the relationships with its partner agencies. At Keefe, he built relationships with community groups, faith groups, non-profits, local businesses, academic institutions, and civic leaders to better serve our residents.

During his tenure at Keefe, he realized that the majority of the work was public-health related. In 2019, he decided to go back to school for a Master of Public Health degree to better understand the science and theory behind the work and to improve Keefe’s operations and services. He has since completed the program and is ready to put that knowledge to use.

When COVID-19 struck, he led the rapid transformation of Hamden’s human services into emergency response mode. Working alongside dedicated partners, he coordinated critical food security efforts, organized community testing, and later oversaw vaccination events. In the midst of the pandemic, he was appointed Chief of Staff, where he provided steady leadership and stability to Government Center during one of the more challenging times in our community's history.

Adam brings people together and makes things happen.

Adam is innately a collaborator, a bridge-builder, and a connector. He understands that leadership begins with listening—understanding the needs and perspectives of others—and then shaping a shared vision. Throughout his career, he has led by bringing people together, building coalitions, and taking decisive action to solve problems and deliver results. Anything less leads to out-of-touch policies and community division.

Adam will come to the office with strong relationships and connections in government, in the non-profit sector, in the faith community, and the business world across Hamden, greater-New Haven, and the state. He has served on county-wide boards and state commissions. He has the skills needed to network, share best practices, and form strategic partnerships that will bring Hamden smarter solutions and reduce costs. After all, Hamden is not an island, and collaboration is the key to progress.

While his past accomplishments are important, what really matters right now is his vision and plan for Hamden’s future. You can see his platform here. And we encourage you to send questions and comments about issues that are important to you! We will update the platform page as new information is released.
